Short answer: in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, plan a mast climbing work platform around temperature, sand, electrics and the summer midday work ban. The P1500 and P3000 manual allows operation from -10 °C to +40 °C, so compare site temperatures with it. Keep pinions and racks clean, protect the electrics and plan around the midday ban (15 June to 15 September).
ALPMAKSAN, an İstanbul-based manufacturer of mast climbing work platforms and construction hoists, publishes operating limits for its P1500 and P3000 platforms in the user manual. This page turns those limits into a planning checklist for Gulf sites. It does not replace the manual, local regulation or your main contractor's method statement.
Does the operating temperature range matter on a Gulf site?
Yes. The manual gives a permitted operating temperature range of -10 °C to +40 °C. Before mobilization, compare that range with the ambient temperatures expected on the site during the working season, and ask the manufacturer for written guidance if the site is expected to go outside it. The manual only addresses the cold side explicitly (consult the manufacturer below -10 °C), so do not assume anything for temperatures above +40 °C: ask first.
How do sand and dust affect a mast climber?
The pinion and rack carry the platform's load, and debris on them speeds up wear. The manual's weekly task is to grease the pinions and racks and, where there is a lot of sand or dirt on them, to remove it before applying grease. On a sandy site, that cleaning is the most important weekly job. Wear limits for these parts are in our wear limits guide, and the full interval list is in the maintenance schedule.
Two more points from the manual are relevant. The mast sections, base frame and drive units have surface protection for corrosion resistance, and the annual inspection includes the paintwork, corrosion condition and welded joints. All electrical equipment is rated IP56. If your site is on the coast, add a corrosion check of the lowest mast section bolts to your routine, as the manual does for storage.
What does the electrical supply need to look like?
The manual specifies a three-phase supply with neutral and earth at 380-415 V, 50/60 Hz depending on the national grid. Generators on temporary sites must meet the minimum supply power for the model. The power and cable details are in our electrical supply guide. A long cable run raises voltage drop, so place the site power point close to the platform. The cable cross-section is normally 5 × 4 mm², but it can vary with the distance to the main power source and the installation length.
How do the summer midday work bans affect platform work?
Both countries limit outdoor work during the hottest hours:
- UAE: the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) prohibits work under direct sunlight and in open areas from 12:30 to 15:00 each day from 15 June to 15 September. Employers must provide shade, cooling equipment, drinking water and first aid. MoHRE midday break
- Saudi Arabia: the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) applied a ban on work under direct sunlight in private-sector establishments from 12:00 to 15:00, from 15 June to 15 September in 2026. HRSD announcement
For platform work, schedule loading, installation and facade tasks around these hours, and agree with your main contractor and the competent authority how the rule applies to work on a facade. Check the announcement for the year you are working, since dates and details are set annually.
How should wind be handled?
Stop work if a storm approaches, switch the power off and disconnect the plug, as the manual requires. Wind limits are model-specific and come from the manufacturer's manual, not from general figures. Installation and dismantling are the most sensitive operations: see the installation guide and follow the manual's wind limit.
What should a Gulf project checklist include?
- Site temperature range compared with -10 °C to +40 °C, with the manufacturer consulted if there is any doubt.
- Weekly sand and dust removal before greasing pinions and racks.
- Supply of 380-415 V three-phase, with the right minimum power and cable section.
- Corrosion check of the lowest mast section bolts and paintwork at the annual inspection.
- Work plan that respects the midday work ban dates and hours.
- Trained operators, a daily check and a rescue plan.
Frequently asked questions
Can a mast climber work in UAE summer temperatures?
The manual allows operation from -10 °C to +40 °C. If your site conditions are expected to go beyond that, ask the manufacturer for written guidance before mobilization.
Does sand damage the rack and pinion?
Debris on the pinion and rack speeds up wear. The manual asks you to remove sand and dirt before applying grease, and to grease weekly.
What voltage does a P1500 or P3000 need?
Three-phase with neutral and earth, 380-415 V, 50/60 Hz depending on the national grid.
Does the midday ban apply to facade work?
Both countries ban outdoor work under direct sunlight during the stated hours. Confirm how it applies to your facade work with your main contractor and the competent authority.
What is the midday break in Saudi Arabia in 2026?
From 15 June to 15 September 2026, from 12:00 to 15:00, for private-sector establishments, according to HRSD.
